- Performance Modes
- During the installation procedure, the system automatically evaluates your system's hardware resources and installs the appropriate compiler files for optimum performance.
- Standard Mode
- The system operates in the standard DOS mode. Performance is comparable to other relational database systems available on the market.
- Hi-Performance Mode
- This mode requires at least a 386 CPU and 4 megabytes of memory. The FoxproR Compiler will operate in its true 32 bit processing mode, performing its own disk caching and high memory management. The system operates 2-3 times faster on the same machine, when running in the Hi-Performance mode.
- Hardware Recommendations
- For a low volume shop (up to 30 transactions / day) we recommend a 486SX compatible computer running at (minimum) speed of 25 Mhz, a 120 MByte hard disk, and 4 Mbytes of memory. This configuration is also recommended for stand-alone FloraTicket stations.
- For a medium size shop (30 to 60 transactions / day), we recommend a 486 computer with a minimum speed of 66 Mhz, a 250 MByte hard disk, 8 Mbytes of memory, and a tape backup system.
- For a heavy volume shop (more than 60 transactions / day), we recommend a 486 (or Pentium) computer system (Host) with minimum speed of 66 Mhz, a 500 MByte hard disk, 16 Mbytes of memory, and a tape backup system.
Single User Micro Florist system
The Single User version of the Micro Florist is mainly used for the following two configurations.
- A stand-alone single station Micro Florist system, that can have any/all software accessories listed in the following sections. This can be a very powerful system, and the user interface and the features are exactly the same as a Multi-user system (you won't know the difference, as long as there is only one station involved).
- A single-user (S.U.) Host that can accommodate multiple single-user Flora-Ticket stations. The S.U. Host can receive orders from S.U. Flora-Tickets but in this mode no file sharing takes place. The Resource Files (customer, inventory, Zones, etc.) are downloaded by Flora-Ticket stations daily (or more), and are used locally by each Flora-Ticket station.
For smaller shops that have limited budgets, but take a long term view of their future computing needs, a special arrangements maybe made with your MFS Representative, where a Limited Feature Set (LFS) system can be implemented at the first, and then be upgraded as the cash flow situation improves due to the implementation of MFS.
The data structures and file formats that are used when you start building your databases, become a major commitment for your shop. As your databases grow and you become more and more dependent on them, having a solid upgrade path for the software, becomes more and more important. It truly is like a marriage, it gets harder and harder to switch, as time goes on!!. Small shops beware, do not buy a cheap system, thinking you will switch when you have the money. That is probably the biggest mistake you can make, when deciding on software.
The following table lists all of the standard features that are available in the Full Feature Set (FFS) system. It is important to note that FloraTicket, Flora-Credit, Flora-Link, and all of the other accessories listed on the Price List, are separate products, and are not part of the Micro Florist FFS system.

Multi-User Micro Florist system
The multi-user version of the Micro Florist system is available only in the FFS configuration, and it allows you to have access to Micro Florist's Main menu on more than one station. It also allows the sharing of its files by multi-user Flora-Ticket stations.
Using the multi-user system allows you to distribute the load of various computer operations such as; billing, sales entry, transaction entry, and report generation, on one, two, or a few, satellite stations. Please note that the term Satellite station, refers to systems that have the capability to run the Main menu of the Micro Florist system (vs. Ticket stations that can run the Flora-Ticket sales entry only software).
You may decide to place one of the satellite stations in your office, but again, it is recommended that the Host (the system that contains the shared files) be placed on the floor, where most of the shop's activities take place.
It is important to note that; in the multi-user configuration, each satellite station is a complete Micro Florist system (not just a sales entry station). In this type of setup, all of the feature sets, such as Cash Register, Account Customers, General Ledger, Payroll, etc., are available on each and every satellite station.
Again, you can add different accessories, such as the Flora-Ticket, Flora-Credit, Auto-Reconcile, Flora-Graph, Auto-Fax, or Flora-Map, to your FFS Satellite station, depending on what that station is supposed to be doing for you. If you are only interested in a multiple sales entry station setup, then you may want to consider a multiple Flora-Ticket station and a Host configuration, instead.
The multi-user system is especially useful for the following situations:
A) The Manager requires a separate FFS system to do his/her financial management and payroll, in the privacy of his/her own office.
B) A multi-location florist (or a florist chain) wants to maintain a central database, while having real time access to the Host from all remote locations.
C) High level of sales and accounting activities require a multiple station setup to distribute the total load, with each station having FFS capability.

Provides you with fast and easy "one screen per order" sales entry environment. It allows you to enter orders directly into the system, while you are talking to the customer.
Flora-Ticket prompts the user in the natural sequence for each type of sale. As a result the order taking process becomes orderly and efficient. FloraTicket insures that all critical information is obtained correctly, and completely for each order. No more missing digits on the credit card number, or forgetting to get the sender's phone number.
When using the Flora-Ticket, you can easily change anything on the order, including the "type of sale", after the sale has been entered. For example; if an order was too far to deliver locally, you can change the Delivery sale into a wire-out sale, and then simply call out the order to another florist.
The Flora-Ticket maybe standalone or integrated with the Host. You can have multiple Flora-Ticket stations for order entry. These stations can be connected to the Host via a)Network, b)Commlink (serial port), c)Remote-Link (modem), or d)floppy disks. In the singleuser Flora-Ticket stations orders are stored locally on each station's hard disk, and then they are exported to the Host by simply pressing Ctrl-E. This provides maximum level of "local control" on each station.
For shops with multiple phone lines that require sales entry station by each phone line, the Flora-Ticket provides the most cost-effective solution.
The Flora-Ticket system may also be run in the partition 4 of the Mercury 3000 system. In this case the "Filling Florist" codes can be retrieved directly from the CDROM.
The Flora-Ticket supports other accessories such as Florist Directory lookup, Auto-Faxing of wire-out orders, and RemoteLinking a branch store to the main store.
If your Flora-Ticket station(s) are connected to the Host via Network, then you may decide to upgrade your Flora-Ticket station(s) to the multi-user configuration.
In the multi-user configuration, each Flora-Ticket station can log-on to the Host (or any other station for that matter), and then lookup / add / modify / delete orders directly on that station.
In this mode, since orders are added directly to the Host, there is no longer the need to export the orders. Of course, the operator has the option to return to the "local mode" at any time. She may decide to logon to the Host for just a minute or so, to lookup an order, and then immediately return to the "local mode".
Having the choice to log-on to another station, or remain "local", provides a great flexibility in order handling, local control, as well as increased Network reliability.
In the single-user mode, the customer file is automatically downloaded to each Flora-Ticket station at startup. A great advantage of the multi-user Flora-Ticket station however, is that, each station can directly look at (share) the main customer, inventory, florist directory, and delivery ticket files on the Host, without having to bring them to the local disk drive. In this mode you get up-to-the-minute customer, inventory and delivery ticket status, faster startup times, as well as the ability to add/modify customer information during sales entry on all ticket stations.
Flora-Ticket stations are automatically upgraded to multiuser configuration, whenever you upgrade your Micro Florist system (Host or Satellite station) to a multiuser system. To upgrade your stand-alone Flora-Ticket station(s) to multi-user configuration, please see "Flora-Ticket multi-user upgrade" in MicroCode's price list.

The Flora-Credit system is the credit card authorization and draft capture engine that works in the following three modes.
- From within the Flora-Ticket. In this mode the Flora-Credit system obtains multiple authorizations in one call (batch mode), resulting in significant improvement in efficiency and speed of order processing.
- From Micro Florist's Cash Register system. In this mode the system remembers the Account Customer's credit card number and obtains authorization upon entry of each sale.
- Accessible from both the Micro Florist and Flora-Ticket menus is Flora-Credit's own menu, where you can obtain credit card authorization directly (the ZON mode). This mode also provides you with the end-of-the-day settlement of transactions, as well as modify/delete of previous authorizations.
In order to run the Flora-Credit system, your system must be equipped with a Haze compatible modem. You do not need to have a dedicated telephone line, but the "Call Waiting" feature must be disabled on the phone line, so that Flora-Credit calls are not interrupted.
The Flora-Credit system prints credit card slips on a half page ticket format, or on a 3" roll of paper, through the printer port of your choice. Settlement reports are printed in full page format listing all transactions being transmitted to the bank for settlement.
The Flora-Credit is an extremely useful accessory that will significantly improve efficiency, and reduce (expensive) hours wasted running around trying to get authorizations on the Zon, or sitting down in the office, trying to resolve discrepancies between bank deposits and your sales summary reports.
First you will eliminate the ritual of walking to the Zon, waiting for a free line, entering all the numbers (sometimes twice or more, until you get it right), waiting for the authorization, walking back to the computer, locating the order on the computer, and then entering it into the system. And this is done for almost every order !
Second, you will eliminate those excruciating hours that you spend pulling your hair, trying to balance your accounts. In order to balance your accounts, you must find the order(s), then you must make the necessary adjustments one by one to each order, by sending another transaction through the Zon, which of course will show up on customer's credit card statement (kind of embarrassing, don't you think ?).
Instead, by using the Flora-Credit you can avoid this whole fiasco, and obtain authorizations for 10, 20, or 30 orders in batch mode, with in a single call, no discrepancies, guaranteed.
| As we discussed above, each phone line. You can of course use Flora-Credit system requires a modem and a the same phone the modems don't line that is used by your Zon, which will not cost you any more money, and have to be high speed, so they are pretty inexpensive. | |
| However, if the quantity of Flora-Credit stations go above two or three, then you would need to make sure that authorization requests are queued up, and handled in an orderly fashion, and that there are no problems with busy phone lines. | |
| In a Network setup, you can dedicate a small computer to function as the Flora-Credit Server (see price list). This station will respond to all authorization requests coming in from up to 10 stations, using only one modem and one phone line. | |
| Economically, the Flora-Credit Server becomes feasible for systems having more than two Flora-Credit stations. |

| As a Flora-Ticket user, you will soon learn that the F7 key allows you to select the filling florist for all of your wireout orders. The Florist Directory accessory will turbo charge the F7 key, so that you can quickly select a florist within the recipient's zip code in less than a few seconds, and have the florist information be copied onto the order in a flash. | |
| The system allows you to select from a list of florists, that are located in the zip code areas that match the first 4 digits of the Recipient's zip code. The system will flag and identify florists with "zip code matches" and/or "city matches". You can also access the Directory directly, and block any florist from being selected, or flag certain florists as "preferred" florists. The system also maintains count of orders sent (or received), by (or from) different florists. This useful information is then automatically transferred to the new update file, whenever you get a new Directory Update from MicroCode. | |
| The Florist Directory file is compiled and post-processed by MicroCode to include the maximum number of florists with 800 numbers and fax numbers. | |
| For wire-in orders, the system first prompts the operator for the sending florist's wire company code, and as soon as the code is entered, the system will locate the florist in the directory, and will transfer all the necessary information directly into the order, saving you a lot of time and typing. | |
| The "Florist Directory Feature" enables each Flora-Ticket station with the ability to utilize the Florist Directory files. | |
| Florist Directory files are available on the Micro Florist OnLine BBS for all of the major wire services. The MFS has a built-in communication program that allows you to automatically connect to the BBS, download and install the various directory files that you need, once every quarter. |

MicroCode Corp. is proud to present the next level of computer communications technology in the Floral Industry. The Micro Florist OnLine (Flora Forum) is a 24 hour BBS (Electronic Bulletin Board Service).
The MFS allows you to connect to the BBS, download, and install the latest versions of the Micro Florist software, at anytime you wish, from within the Micro Florist main menu automatically.
You can also download the latest Florist Directory files with significant savings directly from within the Micro Florist system.
As a member of the Micro Florist OnLine BBS, you can participate in Micro Florist User's Group Forums, send and receive E-Mail (Electronic Mail) to the Technical Support Group, or other members, ask for help on specific Micro Florist applications, or offer solutions on specific issues.
The User's Group forum is a very powerful medium to communicate your thoughts, problems, solutions, wish lists, etc. to MicroCode Technical Support, as well as to other users.
We recommend an external High Speed (14.4 or 28.8) modem, connected to the COM1 (or COM2) of your computer.

The Micro Florist Caller-Id utility is an integrated software accessory that works in conjunction with the Multi-Line Adapter (MLA), which decodes the Caller-Id information from up to 6 telephone lines, and brings that information directly into your Flora-Ticket station(s). The Caller-Id information is retrieved from the MLA between the first and the second rings of an incoming call, and a popup menu allows the Operator to select the line, and see the customer's Instant Profile, even before s/he actually talks to him/her!!.
With the Caller-Id utility, you can harness powerful new telephone technologies to reduce time per call, capture calls that otherwise may be lost, and totally automate your Order Entry operations. When you see the Micro Florist Caller-Id solution for Call Management, you can spend less time on each call, get "closer" to your customer faster, decide which Operator should take the call, and whether to take the call now, or employ our automatic call logging and telephone directory features for call-back at a later time. That is a lot of functionality !!. Imagine, you will never have "lost" calls, even if those calls come in, after hours.
- Feature List
- Caller-Id Controller provides the interface to the Multi-Line Adapter, via a Serial Port. This utility can run on a dedicated system, or operate within a separate window (Microsoft Windows). The Caller-Id status files, and log files reside on the "shared" disk drive of the Caller-Id Controller system.
- When the Caller-Id Manager on a Flora-Ticket station is enabled, as soon as there are incoming calls, a popup menu will show the names and numbers of customers, allowing you to select a line. As soon as you select a line, customer's Instant Profile is under your finger tips.
- By viewing the Instant Profile, you can read customer's memo field, average purchase, payment history, upcoming special occasions, and the details of his/her previous orders, all before you say Hello!.
- You can view the central Caller-Id Log file, at any time, evaluate employee performance, retrieve unanswered calls, and do call backs using the Auto-Dialer feature!.
- The Caller-Id Manager will NEVER get in your way. You can disable the Caller-Id menu from poping up, by simply pressing the Escape key. To re-enable, you simply press Ctrl-L.

In order to achieve the maximum level of automation in Order Entry, and Production Entry, increase the overall accuracy, and enhance the Inventory Control functions of your Micro Florist system, MicroCode Corp. is proud to announce the addition of the BarCode Module to the Micro Florist software accessories.
The BarCode Module maybe installed on either the Host, or a MFS Satellite station. You can purchase your own BarCode Hardware (referred to as BarCode Scanner, Reader, or Wand), or order it through your Micro Florist Representative. Your BarCode Reader must be CODE128 com.
Feature List
The system is BarCode "aware" when entering the Item-Id in Flora-Ticket, Cash Register, and Production of Finished Goods.
You can enable the "Quick Entry" mode when producing BarCodes. In this mode the system will bypass the confirmation for item quantity, and item price when entering transactions.
You can access the BarCode Module by simply pressing the TAB key, while the Search Engine is blinking on an item. This feature allows you to print BarCodes when Purchasing, Receiving, Auditing, Producing, or Selling inventory items.
You can produce BarCodes on either Dot Matrix, or Laser printers (Laser printers are recommended). BarCodes maybe printed on 1,2,3, or 4 column of labels, with up to 20 rows per sheet.
The system allows you to have up to 10 different setup pages for your BarCode printing needs. When producing massive quantities of BarCodes, you can choose the "page printing" mode and print 80 BarCode labels at a time, and then you can switch to a "single column" printing mode, when you need to print a single BarCode.
Your BarCode Reader can be connected directly to the Credit Card Swiper on your MF Cash Register system. The system provides "keyboard free" entry of a multiple items in the "Quick Entry" mode.
Card Reader, also known as the "Swiper". This is the little magnetic card reader that you run your walk-in sales credit cards through. Of course, in order to use this product, you must have the Flora-Credit system. When using the Micro Florist, or the Flora-Ticket as cash register for all your walk-in sales, this accessory will significantly speed-up the sales entry, and may result in lower Credit Card fees charged by your bank. The Swiper is easily installed between the keyboard and the computer, and it sticks to the counter with a piece of Velcro.
Receipt Printer - When using the MFS as a Cash Register, this will provide your customers with a 3" wide cashier receipt. The Star Micronics SP300 printer is one of the fastest and the most reliable receipt printers on the market, and it prints cashier receipts on a 3" wide roll of paper.
Cash Drawer - Used for the safe keeping of the cash. The APG Cash Drawer, connects to the above printer using a special wire, which is supplied with the drawer. The Drawer opens at the end of each sale.
Using the Self Guided Tour (SGT)tm
| Welcome to the age of paperless, self-update-able knowledge base of product demonstration and post sales computer based training. | |
| The Micro Florist Self Guided Tour (SGT) contains more than 1200 menu selections, 500 slides, the complete product User Guides, installation photos, and the latest updates and application notes on the complete Micro Florist product line. | |
| The Micro Florist Self Guided Tour is shipped on 4 (or more) high density floppy disks. You must first install the SGT Disks (set of 3 disks), and then install the floppy disk labeled "SGT Support" disk. | |
| The SGT requires at least a 386 system with minimum of 4 megabytes of memory. If your system does not have 4 megabytes of memory, please contact MicroCode to receive the "Low Performance" version of the "SGT Support" diskette. The Installation program will automatically check your hard disk, to make sure the necessary space is available. You'll need at least 15 megabytes of available disk space. |
- To install the SGT on your hard disk, make sure you are at the DOS prompt . Put SGT disk labeled 1 of 3 into the floppy drive and type: A:INSTALL.
If you are installing from the WWW, then just click on the icon labeled sgt.exe, and it will self-extract the files. Once this procedure is done, then type install from a dos prompt, or in windows 95, just double click on the file called install.- The system prompts you to select the hard disk. Use the "up" and "down" arrow keys to select the "C:" drive, and then hit the "Enter" key. The installation program will then prompt you to insert the remaining disks in that set.
- After the first set of disks have been installed, insert the "SGT Support" disk and repeat the above procedure.
- To start the SGT, make sure you are in the c:\sms directory (type CD\SMS to get there), and then type SGT. The system should display the Micro Florist logo, and then it will ask you for a Validation Code. The validation code is "Best", type accordingly.
- If you get "Can't locate the correct version of Foxpro", it means that your system is already using most of the available extended memory. In this case, you'll need to look at your DOS startup files and find out which program is using all the memory. Type MEMORY to see how much extended memory is available. You'll need at least 2.5 megabytes. Usually it is the SMARTDRV utility that is using all the available extended memory. You can edit the autoexec.bat file, and put 512 at the end of that line to limit the amount of memory used by smartdrv. If you are not sure, call MicroCode for technical support.
After reading all this, and going through the SGT Kit, the real question is, can you afford not to own the Micro Florist system?
The Micro Florist system will put the fun back into being a florist again. As a Florist Manager, you should have time and energy to concentrate on developing business strategies, rather than spending most of the day, apologizing for employee mistakes, or spending the better part of every night, doing a ton of nasty paperwork.
From the investment point of view, can you think of any other investment that can even come close to the payback potential of the Micro Florist system?
Call and order your Micro Florist system TODAY!, and lets get started.....
You'll be up and running sooner than you think.
