Rosebud2 vs. Visual Ticket
This is a list of questions, we feel would be
relevant when comparing the Visual Ticket with the "RoseBud2".
We reviewed the Release 1.0 of this product (during Spring of 1999), and based on
using the software for purposes of evaluation, by reading the help screens and the User's
Guide we have gathered the questions that highlight the differences between the two
products. We do not claim that we know each and every feature, any of the "hidden
features", or any feature that is not readily noticeable / available in this product.
By asking these questions from the Sales Staff of both products, you will have the
necessary information to make an informed purchasing decision.
- What level of continuity exists between Rosebud, Rosebud Multi-user, and Rosebud2? Are
they even compatible with one another ?
- Considering that "Historical Data" is truly an asset (thousands of dollars are
spent though out the years to compile it), can one easily upgrade from one to the other,
maintaining all this Historical data?
- When entering multiple items per order, can you send each item to a different
Recipient ?, If not, do I then have to enter each item as a separate order ?, If so,
why do I need to repeat the typing of all the sender, payment and other common
Information, 2, 3, 4 or more times ?
- For the above scenario, does this mean that I have to charge the customers credit
card 4 separate times? How would I do this, for each and every order, on a busy day ?, If
the customer insists on paying by one check, would this imply that I need to use a
calculator (right next to the $3000 NT Server) to add up the orders going to different
Recipients ?!
- When adding a new House Account, do I have to leave the Order pad, and select
"Customer Maintenance" from the original menu?. After adding the new customer,
do I still have to "Search" for the customer that was just added, before it can
be brought into the order pad ? After adding the customer information, searching for it to
locate it, and finally getting back to the Order pad, do I still need to go back up, and
fill in the "blank" Phone number field ?
- Do I have to specify "Recipient Information" prior to selecting the "Type
of Sale" ?, Does the system prompt you to enter "Recipient" information
even for a Pickup or a Carry order? Does the system prompt you to enter instructions,
delivery charge, and service charge, for an item, before you have even "picked"
the item ? Wouldnt I need to know what the item is, before I can decide what
instructions, delivery or service charges would apply ?
- Does the system provide any assistance what-so-ever in automating the Order Entry
process by providing the following pretty much standard features, such as"
- Handling the Delivery Zones, and providing fast and easy city, zip code, and Zone lookup
?
- Does the system select the "corresponding" delivery charge for a given city,
zone, and/or zip code area ?
- Does the system provide any assistance at all when dealing with Driver Assignments,
Delivery Tracking, and Order Status monitoring?
- Does the product allow "Concurrent Order Pads" for taking simultaneous orders
on the same station ?
- Can you see the entire order on one screen, while you are talking to the customer and
entering orders?
- When using the search routines, does the product present the list, and then narrow the
search as you type ?
- Other than a simple True/False flag for "Production Completed", is there any
other assistance this product can offer in helping me "run" my shops
operations?
- Would I be able to track and monitor the production of arrangements with a) Which
tickets are yet to be picked, b) list of "Work-In-Progress" for each one of my
Designers, and c) The list of "finished" arrangements for each Designer, with
both "Starting" as well as "Finishing" times ?
- How does this product handle all the issues with respect to managing
"Deliveries", such as Delivery Zones, Driver Assignments, Street Match, Delivery
Status Monitoring by the Manager?
- Would the Manager at the end of the day, have any clue what-so-ever, as to what is
happening with all of her deliveries on a busy day ?
- Can I use only Mouse, or only Keyboard, or do I have to keep switching between the mouse
and the keyboard every few seconds ?, Why cant I select an "item" using
the mouse ?, Why cant I access the "Search" buttons, using the keyboard?
- Why does Rosbud2 ask for the Designers ID, while entering the "ticket"
?. Isnt it true that the Designer picks the arrangements afterwards when the
arrangement needs to be made ? A certain Designer may not even be available at the time
when the Order is being made. Isnt asking for the Designer ID before knowing what
the order is for, a bit unrealistic ?
- Does Rosebud2 provide any provisions to enter Choice#2 for an arrangement ?
- Does Rosebud2 provide any provisions for tracking orders for Order Management, Delivery,
and Production Tracking using Barcode ?
- Does Rosebud2 provide any provisions for printing Barcode Labels and provide
Barcode Scanning capabilities for inventory items ?
- Does Rosebud2 provide any kind of Inventory Management, Reduce Inventory upon
sales, or allow you to purchase Inventory, calculate Cost of Goods, and provide various
inventory Management capabilities?
- Can I search for customers by Company Name ?, if not, since most companies
require that we use "Account" "Payables" for first and last names, how
else can I locate a specific House Account, besides asking the customer for their Rosebuds
Customer ID ? What if the customer does not know their Rosebud2 Customer ID ?, how am I
supposed to find his account ?
- Can Rosebud2 automatically select a specific House Account by simply reading the
Callers Caller-Id ?
- How flexible is Rosebud2 in providing all the Production Paperwork ?. Are there
any provisions to print separate Enclosure Cards, Work Tickets, Delivery Tickets, etc ?,
What if we dont like the one and only "Combined" ticket that the Rosebud2
Engineer has designed for us ?
- Can Rosebud2 handle Delivery Pools by automatically assigning Bins, and printing
the Delivery Pool Tickets ?
- Does Rosebud2 support Canadian Taxes (PST, HST, GST) for Wire ins/outs to different
provinces, and to / from the US ?
- Are there any provisions for canned "Enclosure Card Messages"?. Can I
add or modify canned messages for different holidays / occasions, or for having them in a
different language ?
- Is it true that Rosebud2 occasions are limited only to Customers own Birthday and
Anniversary ?. What about wife's, mother's, father's, husband's, or children's birthdays,
or anniversaries ??.
- Why are we asking the customer' for his/her social security number? Isnt it true
that most people are hesitant to give that kind of "personal information", just
to buy an arrangement ?
- For Account Sales, are there any provisions to look up previous sales, or payments
during order entry? If not, then how can I Repeat a previous order, or a line item,
when the list of previous orders is not even available ? Does this mean I can not even
Repeat previous orders?!
- Does Rosebud2 have any provisions what-so-ever to handle "Standing Orders"
(Orders that are repeated automatically on a periodical basis). Some Floral Shops have up
to 10% of their business in "Standing Orders".
- Does Rosebud2 have any provisions at all to "Stage Orders" ? If not, then how
would I know whether an order is "Current" or "Standby" ?. If it can
not distinguish between "Current" or "Standby" orders, does that mean
that it may charge a credit card, for an order that is not even due for another 2 months
?! After we are done for today, can we ask Rosebud2 to process tomorrows orders ?
- On Wireout orders, most professional florists want to have the ability to
"adjust" the Amount Given to the Filling Florist. Anybody in this
business knows that sometimes, under certain conditions, based on the delivery charge, or
prices of flowers in different parts of the country (or the world for that matter), it is
CRITICAL to adjust the amount that is given to the other florist. It is "money",
we are talking about here folks. Does Rosebud2 have any provisions for adjusting the
Amount Given to the other florist ?
- Can I assign a "Problem Folder" to each item ? Isnt dealing with,
and managing "Problem" orders, an important administrative task in any Flower
shop?, shouldnt a decent computer system be able to handle such tasks ?
- The most common shortcut in Floral POS systems is the ability to send an arrangement to
the Sender her/himself. In Rosebud2, can I quickly insert the Sender (customer)
information into the Recipients ? Do I have to ask the Customer address, city, zip,
phone, etc., again when entering the Recipient information?
- Can I search for a customer using his/her First Name ?
There are still a few pages of these questions left. We will summarize
by asking: Does Rosebud2 have any provisions to provide a) Interface to Teleflora Dove
system, b) Employee Punch in/Punch out for payroll, Delivery Mapping and
Routing, Auto-Reconcile of order belonging to Wire Services other than AFS?. How
about order transfers from your Web-site ? How about attaching POS hardware such as
Cash Drawer and Credit card or Cashier Receipt Printer?.
