Caller Id
The Caller-Id utility is an integrated software accessory that works in conjunction with the Multi-Line Adapter (MLA), which decodes the Caller-Id information from up to 6 telephone lines, and brings that information directly into your VT station(s). The Caller-Id information is retrieved from the MLA between the first and the second rings of an incoming call, and a popup menu allows the Operator to select the line, and see the customers Instant Profile, even before s/he actually talks to the customer !!.
With the Caller-Id utility, you can harness powerful new telephone technologies to reduce time per call, capture calls that otherwise may be lost, and totally automate your Order Entry operations. When you see the Visual Ticket Caller-Id solution for Call Management, you can spend less time on each call, get "closer" to your customer faster, decide which Operator should take the call, and whether to take the call now, or employ our automatic call logging and telephone directory features for call-back at a later time. That is a lot of functionality !!. Imagine, you will never have "lost" calls, even if those calls come in, after hours......
The Caller-id Controller currently runs on a DOS machine, connected to the Network, using the Microsoft "Windows for Workgroup Add-on for DOS". This system is connected to the Multi-Line Adapter (MLA), via its Serial Port. The MLA supports up to 6 lines, and connects to your phones before any PBX system, that you may have.
Each VT station configured for Caller-Id, scans the Caller-Id table on the Caller-Id Controller once every 5 seconds, and displays the line status on a pop-up window which is located on top of the Order Pad. As you click and select a specific Caller, the Caller-Id window is minimized, totally getting out of your way, until you click on the CID button on the toolbar, to re-activate it.
Directory Lookup
The system allows you to select from a list of florists, that are located in the city or zip code of the Recipient's. You can also access the Directory directly, and block any florist from being selected, or flag certain florists as "preferred" florists.
The system also maintains count of orders sent (or received), by (or from) different florists. This useful information is then automatically transferred to the new update file, whenever you download a new Directory Update from the Micro Florist BBS.
The Florist Directory file is compiled and post-processed by MicroCode to include the maximum number of florists with 800 numbers and fax numbers.
For wire-in orders, the system first prompts the operator for the sending florist's wire company code, and as soon as the code is entered, the system will locate the florist in the directory, and will transfer all the necessary information directly into the order, saving you a lot of time and typing.
Florist Directory files are available on the Micro Florist online BBS for all of the major wire services, in both the "Basic", as well as the "Also Served By" listings. The "Also Served By" listings are roughly 2-3 times larger, and they already include the Basic listing, plus the additional "Also Served By" listings. The download fee is the same, whether you choose the "Basic" file, or the "Also Served By" file. It is recommended that you download the "Also Served by" file for the Wire Service(s) you use most for sending, and use the "Basic" listing for all other wire services.
The system has a built-in communication program that allows you to automatically connect to the BBS, download and install the various directory files that you need, once every quarter (90 days).
Barcode Interface
Please see the BarCode Module description in the list of Micro Florist accessories, to obtain information on printing BarCodes during Inventory Purchase/Setup. The BarCode Interface in VT refers to the "Reading" of barcodes during Order Entry.
Visual Ticket now supports the reading of UPC (Universal Product Codes), by integrating and streamlining the BarCode scanning operation right into Line-item order entry.
